Narwee: Birthday Cake and Card

A mango cheesecake and birthday card..

Fastforward to the latter part of the evening..

My housemate, Shuh-Yong apparently had ordered a cheesecake from Michel's Patisserie two days ago.

She decided to spring a surprise by having one of our mates, Catherine to come
and bring the cake, but I was down in the CBD having a birthday dinner.

Hence the honour was passed to my new housemate, Anisha, and her hubby to celebrate with me instead!
I even had a surprise call from Keishore.. That really was really a surprise!

Two Weeks Countdown to go!

Two Weeks Countdown to go!

So its two weeks countdown to my Malaysian trip.

My to do list remains in:
1- Praying/Getting/ ensuring my employer gives me a statement of reference. By hook or by crook, that is going to happen.

2. Meet up with some acquaintances before I leave - Mia, Joyce, Helen, Tracey?

3. Sit for exams on 23rd and 28th Nov.

4. Make overseas calls to some people.

5. Pack stuff into luggage bags before going home.

Some Simple Reminders about Males

Some Simple Reminders about Males

From observation in the last few days, I am reminded that males are a simple lot. If only we understand that what makes them tick...

First, I'm reminded that males are generally not impressed about a female's level of education.

She may have not have completed her undergraduate studies (which is a big concern these days.) In fact, if she is pursuing post grad, its best to keep males in dark about it . . .

This might seem discriminatory, but when males go after a female, its not how smart a female is, but the 'emotion' or 'feeling' that the female brings up in that.

Trying to impress a male by telling them how smart a female is basically takes away their attempts at trying to impress a female.

*Sad, but true . . . .*

Secondly, all creatures, big and small like being praised. This includes the male species.

Somehow both young and big males like being given praises from females. It seems to affect a difference in their response..

Just keep this in mind anyways...

Osmosis Chiropractor

Osmosis Chiropractor

I went to see a Chiropractor on Sunday. My back was hurting from the week before so I went to see one that a good friend of mine recommended. You could say I was a bit nervous as it was my first time in seeing a 'bone doctor'.

Anyways, to share my experience, I was hurting really badly on Wednesday the same week. Hence, by Sunday, I had no choice but to get it seen by a doctor.

The doctor is a chinese lady from Taiwan by the name of Jennifer. She did her Chiropractor studies for a total of five years, so she is definitely trained in that area.

The doctor had me do a few body movements to determine the level of my injury. Then I was made to lie on my front on this 'long chair' which she used to do a few adjustments to my spine.

I was told that the spinal chord was hurting the muscles around my pelvis bone. So all three areas were inextricably somehow affected, where the muscles were badly inflamed.

By Tuesday (the next appointment), I was feeling a lot better. The parts which were hurting was still tender, but they did not hurt as much. So yes, my spine did respond well to the treatments rendered.

I ended up making the decision to purchase a 12 visit card for about 480aud (price as at the time of writing). If you have private insurance, you can make a claim of some of the monies paid.

As my spinal chord is not exactly in the best possible shape (regardless of whether I have subscribed to health insurance), it still is a good investment. Compared to beauty services, this is something that will affect my health in the long term, so it was a no brainer decision.

The initial consultation fee is 55aud if you tell the doctor you are recommended by another patient. (meaning me) *haha*.

My next appointment is this coming Friday. We shall see the progress of my spinal health in the weeks to come.

Her information are as follows:
Dr. Jennifer Huang

Level 12, World Tower Commercial
Unit 1216, 87-89 Liverpool St

T: 02- 9264 7079.

Speed Dating: My Date with 13 Single Males.

Speed Dating: My Date with 13 Single Males.

*Ahem* *Ahem*

What were you people thinking of?

Get your mind out of the gutter, people...

Yesterday evening with another two mates, I was booked into a singles event hosted by Fast Impressions. This company specializes in the hosting of many successful singles social events, held in as far as Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia, and to even China.

It was an interesting experience to have an '8 minute date' with 13 single males from different kinds of walk from all over Sydney in one venue.

I don't normally participate in these events, as I'm more wallflower than party belle. Having to speak to 13 different males at one time is more than what my power of speech can attempt ... *LOL*

The theme for the night was University-Educated, so all in attendance were mostly university graduates.
Anyways, there was in attendance, Helen, a 38 year old australian vietnamese chinese who came for the speed dating.

She had a gorgeous body for a woman in her late thirties, passing for someone in her late twenties/early thirties. She also has a fair complexion, which may help accentuate her beauty. If I were a guy, I'd go after her... But I'm not, so that's it.

Overall, I have to say it's a numbers game, and sometimes fate has hand in it. (At least that's what a guy friend tells me...)

That aside, I am planning to attend another event, but this will be a day trip to the vineyard. A half day out in the open yard will definitely allow us to observe more than just our tastes in wine....

Korean Hair Manicure

Korean Hair Manicure

On Monday afternoon, I made a visit to the korean hair salon on Liverpool St. (near World Plaza) for a Hair Manicure. I paid 99aud for threw hair manicure and hair cut.

I was thinking of having a hand manicure, but one can get that done anywhere in Australia.
But Hair Manicure? That technique is only available in korean, and perhaps japanese hair salons.

The entire process took an hour. First the hairdresser washed and dried my hair.

The 'hair manicure' application is done similarly to that of a hair colouring application. The treatment used has some colour in it, so your hair would have some tint on it thereafter.

The hairdresser advised me to not wash my hair until Wednesday.

The starting price was 99aud onwards, depending on hair length. Some shops quoted me 120aud for my hair length.

How does it look? Well, it does look shinier a bit, and brown....

Hmm... the hair does look somewhat tinted... (I am actually a bit at loss for words how to describe it). Just shinier.

Holiday: First Day of Leisure

Holiday: First Day of Leisure

Woke up in the morning at Jo's place, watching an episode of FRIENDS.

The episode was a fantasy sequence of what could have happened if Rachel had actually married Barry... And Monica (in a fat suit) had a date with Chandler. As it was Courtney Cox Arquette in the opening credits, I knew it definitely wasn't from the first season.

Next I headed to UTS library, sleeping for an hour there. LOL....

Wandered around the city, and received an email from this singles socials event planner, First Impressions. They informed me that my mates and I have been booked into an event on Tuesday evening.
Wooo! So excited! First time attending an event of this nature in Australia. I wonder who shall we meet tomorrow??

Ended up heading to FORCAST and bought a nice sundress for 29aud. Next, I headed to the korean hair salon on Liverpool St. for a Hair Manicure, which I paid 99aud.

I wouldnt mind going for a manicure, but one can get that done anywhere in Australia. But Hair Manicure? That technique is only available in korean, and perhaps japanese hair salons. The hairdresser advised me to not wash my hair until Wednesday.

I ended the day by catching a screening of 'Midnight in Paris' with Pom at Events Cinema. It wasnt exactly my kind of movie, but more for those who appreciate literature.....

Before leaving, we decided to sit down to a light supper of waffles with caramel chocolate sauce, strawberries and vanilla ice- cream on the side.YUM.

So that ended my first day of leisure...... Tomorrow begins my start of some serious study at home. At least in the morning anyways!

Seriously Blessed

Seriously Blessed

I Really Am.

As on my resignation at my previous work place on Friday, I've been continuously getting texts from my casual work agency. I did not even call them, but I did reply some of their messages.

Perhaps that's why.

I have yet to accept any shifts, but the temptation is there. Money is always a temptation. Casual work pays even more by the hour.

The whole reason I resigned from my job was I needed some 'me time'.

For now, if I can spare the time (apart from getting actual study) is to only take casual work assignments. I would have happily worked casual for one or two days a week at my previous workplace since I know the routines and all, but I doubt that's gonna happen any time soon.

3 more weeks to go!

3 more weeks to go!

With not much time in hand, I have these things to do.
1. Decide which things to chuck out, give away and to bring back with me in my limited 20kg + luggage allowance. I definitely need to bring my korean language, and Management text books with me.

2. Study and get ready to sit for a 3 hour paper examination on 23rd and 28th November.

4. Celebrate my birthday on 24th Nov with another churchmate.

5. Go and see a dentist on 29th Nov.

6. Go scouting for dinner dresses on sale. FORCAST seems pretty ok. Just waiting for them to bring their prices down....

Respect is earned.

Respect is earned.

In hindsight, my boss, Katherine M. may be cross and furious, but she will have respect for me.

She now knows I am not letting them walk all over me as I have shown I know what my priorities are.
