Korean Drama: Mary Stayed Out All Night

Korean Drama: Mary Stayed Out All Night

So I stayed over at Jo's place yesterday. We ended up watching Minam (He's Beautiful).

To which we relived Jang Geun Seuk & Park Shin Hye's acting of 2009....

My housemate lent me Mary Stayed Out All Night (kdrama) which I have yet to watch from reading awful reviews of it... which means another silly character of a girl, Mary like that of Mi Nam...

Anyways, I just started playing the dvd...

I was horrific to find that the subtitles did not appear , but strangely I found that I still understood the conversation without the subtitles...

It must mean that my korean skills are improving!

LOL.

A New Phase: Studying Management.

24/07/2011

A New Phase: Studying Management.

I have not really been specific, but for the past two over years, I have been learning Korean. My last formal learning phase ended in June with my last class finishing up Cert IV at TAFE.

The next and probably final testing will be in a few months, should I decide to take the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) later this year.

It would mostly be reviewing what I have learnt so far, so I can't really chuck out any of my textbooks yet!

Anyways, having completed that phase of my life, I have decided to look at other formal kinds of study. After a couple of weeks of deciding, and going back and forth, I decided to enrol in a Management course at UTS.

Yes, the UTS being University of Technology, Sydney. I chose that place as it was near to the train station, as well being central in the city.

WHY MANAGEMENT?

I chose to undertake Management as I have gone and looked through the other subjects like Business, and Human Resource, and I realise I do enjoy learning more about society, people and working with other employees and staff.

Taking up Management will enrich my understanding on the theories and work on case studies that I can use to apply in my work place. Further, I can have a better understanding of how my employer works and what kind of strategies she uses to manage the work and people around her.

Management theory is based on people's studies of workplaces incidents, and is backed by lots of examples and case studies on how to enable people to work and manage their staff better.

Why do you think big businesses invest so much money in training, hiring and sending them to train more? Every hour that is wasted means loss of income and profit for i.e, factories in terms of creating a sustainable and environment conducive to happy and emotional wellbeing of employees who are able to work better and retain employees in the company.

In the retainment of and reduction of turnover of employees, it is better to train staff and keep them happy than to see them leave and waste more money training new staff. Time is money.

Orientation starts in about two weeks time, and I have to read up my texts before class starts! I am so excited!

My Sentiments: Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

My Sentiments: Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

As much as I adore Korean actors and actresses, I would really prefer to have an ethnic Chinese person to play the character of a Chinese charactar in a Chinese inspired film.
Just as the British may be incensed to have an American play the character of a Bridget Jones, similar sentiments are running around here.

Seriously, even for the movie "Memoirs of A Geisha", couldn't the director have cast a real Japanese instead of having Michelle Yeoh, and Zhang Zi Yi, and Gong Li?

I am sure similar sentiments would be running for this next upcoming movie.'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan'.

Gianna Jun, or better known as Jun Ji-Hyun to her asian fans. By one first look, I could immediately tell that Li Bing Bing is a chinese. But Ji-Hyun does not even look chinese. She possesses typical Korean features, which you can tell is so different from Li Bing Bing.....

This is probably one of Ji-Hyun's first English speaking roles, where perhaps, she may not want to lose this golden opportunity...

still as an ethnic Chinese.. Sigh.....

Encouraged.

04/07/2011

Encouraged.

I was really encouraged by the testimony of a friend who spoke on his Quiet Time in the morning during a cell group I attended on Friday night.

In the past many months, I have not had the presence of mind to even pray nor even seek the presence of the Lord, especially in the mornings.

Dedicating our day to the Lord and praying for wisdom in the morning can really be one of the best things a believer can do....

Although it would be ideal to seek the Lord in the morning, yet many of us do not seek the Lord even at other times of the day...

I have never really been a person in possession of the most apt of words, however today the words that I used in speaking to the assistants under me at work, could not have been of my making.

I remember the story in Exodus where Moses told the Lord he could not deliver the Israelites out of Egypt, but the Lord told him that He would give him the words, as long as he was willing to be used.

Hence I write this as a testimony in remembrance of what the Lord has done for me today. Amen.
